What I Ate Wednesday/WOD's #16

Well, well, well back around to....

Hard to believe it is that time again from last week...here's a peek:

Mmmmm....Via Pumpkin Flavour! So yummy and easy to make! Basically a hair under a cup of milk mixed with the packet! I use almond milk so it's a nice 100 calorie snack!

Halloween came early in my latte at breakfast Saturday morning.

Went to Dunn's Smoked Meats for our New Restaurant Friday. Got a grilled cheese, I took off most of the meat lol

Breakfast Tuesday morning. Two hard boiled eggs, crackers with jelly, berries, and milk

I have been forgetting to take pictures of my food this week. I have been keeping on track and keeping it pretty healthy. Will be doing more cooking in the coming week so will have a lot more to post ;)

Just finished up week one of the Focus T25 Beta Cycle!

This is what my week looked like:

Wednesday: Core cardio, awesome. Probably my favourite video.

Thursday: Speed 2.0
I believe this is from Speed 2.0. In this video there are different rounds that have two levels. Then at the end your work your way continuously through all the exercises. I am going to do a full on write up of it like I did for Alpha.

Friday: Rip't circuit. Finally got some weights in, thought my arms would fall off! ;)

Saturday: Rest day, was tired and didn't want to do anything! I did manage to stretch though! :D

Sunday: Dynamic core. Standing core and horizontal core...tough stuff.

Monday: Doubles; upper focus and core cardio.

Made for a great workout! Loved these two together!

Tuesday: Rest day. Did some walking.

Coming up for this week:

I want to get back on a Monday through Friday workout schedule so for week two of Beta I will be doing doubles Wednesday, Thursday, and of course Friday. I then will take Saturday and Sunday as "rest" days. Then pick up the following Monday with Week 3. I say "rest" because on Saturday the teen & I are running...

We are so excited and can't WAIT! Should be a blast. I will also stretch Saturday. Sunday, if I wake up on time I will go to Yoga at Lulu lemon, but we'll see...I'm not putting any real pressure on making that happen!

So, what are your goals for the upcoming week? Anything special?

What I Ate Wednesday's/WOD's #15

Whew! This has been one busy week in my world! Between having company in town, getting ready for back to school, and doing a blogging challenge I've really been hopping!

But, for the good stuff...I'm super proud of what I accomplished this week in fitness. We had family come into town, but I didn't let that get me off track...I kept on truckin'! It was my last week of Alpha Round of T25 so this is what it looked like....

Wednesday: Total Body Circuit
Thursday: Ab intervals
Friday: Total body circuit, lower focus; lots of walking in the evening with the hubby to find a new restaurant to try
Saturday: Active rest; walked, and walked, and walked with family that came into town. I'm pretty confident we walked at least 9 miles.
Sunday: Cardio; again lots of walking.
Monday: Active rest again, quite a bit of walking
Tuesday: Was supposed to be total body, but since I injured myself during that one once I don't really enjoy it so I did Speed 1.0
Wednesday: Start T25 Beta-Core Cardio

Goals for the upcoming week: Use my pear heart rate monitor when doing all workouts; participate each day in a fitness challenge, and remember to drink my protein shake and get in one salad a day!

Now for the other fun stuff....

I should mention...these are in no particular order lol....

Monday's Breakfast at the Elbow Room

Sunday's breakfast at Urban Fare..just egg whites and a delicious multi-grain bagel

Last Saturday's Dinner...Korean BBQ

Tuesday's Lunch...Pho...I'd never had it before so stepped out of my comfort zone. I loved it with this delicious sweet almost teriyaki type sauce and a little siracha. This was at Lemongrass Cafe in Richmond, BC.

Lunch at Cora's in Richomond, BC last Friday when taking the kiddo to a sleepover. It was potatoes, all kinds of veggies, two over easy eggs, and fresh fruit!

The Stanley Park salad, from this little bistro in Stanley Park. It was delicious. It had raw hazlenuts and dried blueberries along with goat cheese and a maple vinegarette!

So, that is the highlights of my week in food in fitness....how was your week?

What I Ate Wedenesday/WODs-Travel Edition #10

Hey Everybody!!!

I've been on vacation so my posts are kind of crazy! But, here I am with another What I Ate Wednesday!!!

First, we'll talk about workouts, just because I've been on vacation doesn't mean I've been slacking in this department. I can't remember exactly what workouts I've done so far since last Wednesday as we've been super busy, but here's what I got:

Thursday: Focus T25, 1 mile run/1 mile walk
Friday: Focus T25
Saturday: a little over 6 total mile run
Sunday: 5 mile run
Monday: Day off knee was hurting but walked a solid 4 miles on the beach at least
Tuesday: Day off but probably walked a good 8 miles between the beach and after dinner in town. We also did a ton of swimming in the ocean and pool.
Today: 3 mile run, walking at the farmer's market and will jump waves in the ocean and do a little boogie boarding

Here's what I've been eating. I will say I am eating a little more white bread than usual, but after yesterday's lunch I won't be having any more of that. But, I've been enjoying myself and sharing good meals with my family. I'm keeping it fun, but definitely watching my portions.

My mom and I split this egg and cheese bagel it was so tasty!

Sampler dinner at IHOP with my extended family. I ate every last bite after hours at the beach and pool!

Hummus, peppers, spinach, avocado, sandwich thin for lunch at the beach!

Watermelon Cake....that's a real life watermelon under that frosting!

BBQ Dinner...used a Hawaiian bun for my hot dog, some pasta salad and baked beans. After a day in the sun at the beach and pool + a 6 mile run I needed those carbs!

Coffee at our favorite little seaside restaurant.

Breakfast at our favorite little seaside restaurant....review to come!

Local place in town where we are vacationing. They use all local ingredients! It was amazing...review to come!

I personally didn't eat these, but my kiddo did! She was needing some serious chocolate last night so I made her S'mores...my Mom (her Nanya) bought the world's biggest marshmallows! ...that's a s'more!

Well, that's it for What I Ate Wednesday! I hope you all have a good one!

What I Ate Wednesday/WODs-Travel Edition-#8

So, this month the kiddo and I are on holiday for the month! Well, not quite a full month, but 24 days, pretty darned close! As I said in my monthly fitness schedule post I was not going to slack on my workouts while on vacation as they just make me feel too darned good! I've deviated from my original monthly workout plan because I got Focus T25 in the mail last week and couldn't wait to start it! So, I’m mostly doing that, but also incorporating some things from my original schedule into the mix. Just trying to keep it fun! So, here’s what my workouts have looked like since last Wednesday:

Wednesday: Focus T25 Day 1
Thursday: Focus T25 Day 2
Friday: Travel day; some light stretching once I got to our final destination; squat and plank challenge
Saturday: Focus T25 Day 4; 2 mile run, light stretching, squat and plank challenge
Sunday: Focus T25 Day 5; squat and plank challenge and a one mile walk
Monday: Focus T25 Day 6 (one hour); squat and plank challenge (I should be almost caught up by this point)
Tuesday: Focus T25 Day 7 (stretching) squat and plank challenge and a two mile run
Today: Focus T25 Day 8; squat and plank challenge, and moving stuff in and out of my parents condo to get ready for our week at the beach! It was hot, muggy and there were two flights of stairs and we made about 5 trips! :-/

Now, here’s a look at what I've been eating:

Healthy snacks for the plane ride!

My mom left chocolates on our pillow ;)

Chick-fil-a! No chicken sandwich anywhere can compare to this! LOL It was quite the treat!

After the sandwich was this amazing peanut butter milk shake. It came with a side cart...I couldn't drink it all!

This was my meal with the milkshake! I At the salad it came with, almost one whole chicken tender and half of a half of the biscuit. I felt awful after, but it was so good!!!! LOL

Then, some redemption! ;) Apple pie protein shake!

Some of this isn't the best, but I am on “vacation”. I am trying to avoid high sodium foods and when I can’t (like the day I HAD to have Chick-Fil-A I got someone so split my sandwich with me and I had a salad on the side with dressing I brought from home. I don’t drink soda or anything of the sort so that does me some favours ;)

I hope you all had a fab hump day!!!

Also, check out what everyone else is eating over here:

Water & Workouts

Water is defined as:
Noun
A colorless, transparent, odorless, tasteless liquid that forms the seas, lakes, rivers, and rain and is the basis of the fluids of...
Verb
Pour or sprinkle water over (a plant or an area of ground), typically in order to encourage plant growth.

Water is essential for our body to function correctly. Approximately 60% of our body is comprised of water. Years ago I switched from drinking sugary sweetened drinks to all water. I literally don't drink anything but water anymore (well, ok I do have the occasional wine or martini, but for my everyday drinking it's all water!).

So, here lately though I have been getting a bit bored with drinking water. I drink a lot of it everyday at minimum 64 oz (on my rest day) to up to 120 oz. Needless to say after a few years of this one gets a bit tired. So, after browsing Pinterest I saw that people were making aqua fresca. Many of these though were sweetened with honey or agave, which if you are going to have a sweetened drink those would be my first two sweeteners to use! But, I am trying to watch how much sugar I consume so I wondered why I couldn't just put fruit in & let it steep. In '08 when my family & I resided with my parents for a bit my mom made some water to help with digestion that she found in a magazine so I just adopted the same concept. Here are a few of my faves:

The one on the left is 8 oz water, a mint green tea bag, a handful of frozen strawberries, and one half of a sliced lemon. I let it sit over night & then squeeze the tea bag out when I am ready to drink & then I use a fork to muddle the lemon & strawberries. After I drink it throughout the day I just refill the cup! I do discard the fruit at the end of the day/

The one on the right is what I love to call "sunshine" water. It's so yellow and happy isn't it?! It's just 8 oz of water, one half of a lemon and a handful of frozen peaches. When I am ready to drink I muddle this as well & just keep refilling throughout the day! I do discard the fruit at the end of the day. :)

This is the water my mom used to make. The original recipe calls for mint & to peel the cucumber but I am too lazy to peel the cucumber & I didn't have any mint so those two things didn't happen. I prefer it this way so this is the recipe I"ll give. One whole lemon, one small cucumber (or half of an English Cucumber which is what I used), and one teaspoon of grated fresh ginger. I drank an entire pitcher of this yesterday. It is very refreshing. I refilled the pitcher last night & just added a bit more ginger. I only reuse the same fruits in this one 3 times. :)

Some other fun things I've been eating lately:

From the top left: Bacon & veggie saute with half a sweet potato,  oatmeal from our local grocery cafe (it's amazing), homemade granola, fruit, and yogurt parfait, veggie tacos with homemade shells, and hubby's fave dinner steak, cheese fries, and corn! Totally decadent but so worth it ;)

The final thing I want to talk about are my workouts. Last week was my last week of month one of Insanity. This program is so amazing. Seriously, if you want something to whip you into shape fast  & make you crave fruits, veggies, and healthy proteins this is it! So, Sunday I started my recover week. I had to make up for our cheerleading carpool so I had to take the kids on Sunday to cheer practice & it's three hours so I spent an hour & half doing a great 80 min walking workout where every 5 minutes you stopped & did some sort of full body exercise. I then came home & participated in a weekend tabata challenge. I was so sore on Monday, talk about a way to start your "rest" week! It's very much been an active rest. Monday I did Insanity Core Cardio & Balance DVD. Then yesterday I did the P90X X-Stretch DVD along with a nice long walk along the sea wall to the part with my daughter & some serious swinging. I woke up feeling like a new woman this morning! Then, I was back to Core Cardio & Balance today. Thursday (tomorrow) will be Core Cardio & Balance along with X-Stretch. Friday will be just Core Cardio & Balance. Saturday will be just X-Stretch, then Sunday I will walk up to our local Lulu Lemon & participate in their free Sunday morning yoga. If you have a Lulu Lemon near you look into this it's an amazing way to start your Sunday and get in touch with your community. My 13 year old even loves to go with me! ;)

What have your food & workout's looked like this week? Are you eating delicious things that make you feel good?
