TTWIBRAT: 5 Favorite Reading Spots in Amsterdam

Happy Friday y'all! I'm writing a quick post from my hubby's laptop because we are in Milan this weekend celebrating his birthday, he is here for work-Milan Games Week-so the teenager and I came with him to celebrate! We've been having a great time and are about to race out to see The Last Supper and grab a traditionally late Italian dinner. 

Today, I am over at Savvy Working Gal blogging about my five favorite reading spots in Amsterdam!

I've included such places at the cafe at the Oude Kerk, which is where Rembrandt met his wife, it also has an enchanting garden, much like you'd find in one of my favorite books, The Forgotten Garden, which I have a review of scheduled up for next week. Another is 't Hooischip, which has some of the best Gluhwein you'll find in Amsterdam!

September Blog Challenge: Favourite Photo

Whew! Fairly busy day yesterday (unexpectedly when our cheer carpool let us know they weren't in the country lol), so I didn't get around to writing today's post! Well, here I am now, getting it done. My favourite photo this is going to be a tough one since I love pictures and have a TON!  Seriously, the amount of pictures I take is a little excessive. I have tried to tone it down in recent years, but with digital pictures I seem to be worse than ever lol But, here we go...

I'm going to go with a more recent photo. This isn't necessarily my favourite photo of all time, but my recently most favourite photo is this one:

It is from us kayaking over the summer (obviously given the paddle in the back lol). We were having a great time and we were trying to get a "selfie" of us together while getting some of the scenery in the background. I think it really embodies the two of us and just how goofy we are! :P

September Blog Challenge: My Favorite Book

I always have a hard time choosing my favorite book. There are so many I love....but, I will say I remember the one book that made me excited to read, I couldn't get enough and had to then get every single book I could by this author....

This book had been given to me by an older girl I worked with at the YMCA. At the time I was just a "volunteer" learning how to become a counselor. I followed this girl around and was her "assistant". I was 14 at the time and she was 16, we were going to be going to the same high school so she had sort of taken me under her wing, like a little sister. She said I had to read it, when I came home with it my mom was so excited for me to read it because it was one she had read and liked at one point as well. For me at the time I couldn't believe my mom was letting me read it because some of the content is quite scandalous, but it really opened up my world of reading. I had no idea books could be so engaging and didn't have to have surfing, bikinis, and a beach to be interesting! I literally gobbled up anything else by VC Andrews after that, sadly her books aren't what they used to be once a ghost writer took over after her death, but I will cherish the older books written by her and can't wait to introduce them to my own daughter once I feel she is old enough.

As a little side note, there is a website called Forever Young Adult. They have all kinds of hysterical articles on Young Adult Fiction, sometimes going a few chapters at a time through certain books and posting all kinds of hysterical content such as drinking games and whatnot. Go check it out, it is so funny!
