July 2013 Workout Schedule

We are coming up on the first of the month and we all know what that means….time to schedule those workouts for the upcoming month! Just get it over with, that way you know what you are doing so you have no excuses to get out there and get your body moving.

I leave for vacation July 5th-I am gone for 24 days so I can’t have the excuse “I’m on vacation I don’t have to work out”. Heck, even when we go to an all-inclusive resort just the husband and I, I don’t take a day off. I go for a run on the beach, lift weights in the gym, just to make sure I don’t undo all my progress in just a few days.

So…here goes my schedule

Week One
July 01-early morning five mile run and abs work along with some stretching
July 02-Grouse grind with the teenager.
July 03-4 mile run, 100 laps in the pool, 100 jump squats, and standing abs
July 04-3 mile run, arms
July 05-this will be a fast, early morning 4am workout-5 minute warm up, 100 burpee burnout, squat challenge, 5 minute cool down/stretch.
July 06-2 mile run, standing abs
July 07-easy walk with my mom/stretching

Week Two
July 08-fast mile run, jump rope hiit

July 10-3 mile run, abs
July 11-ballet burn
July 12-Early morning 2 mile run, squats and back work
July 13-1 mile run, 100 burpee burnout on the beach
July 14-Sunrise stretch on the beach

Week Three
July 15-Beach run with my brother & sister in law. Don’t know how far we’ll go, just as long as we have fun.
July 16-beach boot camp-basically just create a bit of an obstacle course to do on the beach hopefully my brother & sis-in-law will join me. I’m thinking sprints in the sand, army crawls, sumo squats, walking lunges, etc.
July 17-Yoga on the beach
July 18-Beach run and abs
July 19-100 burpee burnout, inner thigh work, back work
July 20-beach run
July 21-stretching

July 24-2 mile run and arm work
July 25-20 min hiit
July 26-1 mile run, jump rope hiit, squats, and planks

July 28-Begins a recovery week-Stretching

Last partial week of the month

Necessary Evils!

Well, Happy Saturday, Friends!!!

Normally I don't do weekend posts, but it is the first of the month & I feel there are lots of things that should be done one time a month. I figured the first is probably the best day to get those things done that way you don't have to think about them for about 20-30 more days-depending on the month!

Now, I live in an apartment so if you live in a house and would like to add to my list feel free to mention other items in the comments below.

    1. Empty all lint traps in the laundry area.
      • Now, many people are probably thinking don't you have one you empty after each load? Yes, I do. However there are also three other lint traps I have to empty. The first is in my washer, the middle piece lifts off and you wouldn't believe the amount of lint that gets in there! It's disgusting, you may want to consult your washer's manual to see if your washer has this feature. I had no idea until ours needed to serviced and the service guy didn't seem to want to leave so he showed me, glad he did! Next, is the one just behind the one I empty after every load. It's a tricky one and can take a while to empty as it has a grate that can't be removed. The last is located in the venting that goes to the outside. Didn't know lint traps could be so complicated, eh?!
      • Here are some projects to do with all that extra lint: http://pinterest.com/pin/112238215686072420/ , http://mainelyewesfarm.blogspot.ca/2012/04/homemade-fire-starters.html , http://nadinesnook.blogspot.ca/2010/10/fire-starters.html
    2. Clean out freezer and fridge, wipe everything down and make a list of any items we are in need of. Do the same with herbs/spices and pantry. I try to buy enough of non-perishable snacks and stuff to get us through the month so we aren't constantly running out and buying these items.
    3. Make a basic dinner plan for the month. This way when I run to Costco I can grab freezable items and non-perishables. This way I only have to take the car out one time for this purpose.
    4. Make a workout plan for the month.
    5. Clean the dishwasher.
      • I just place a cup or bowl full of vinegar on the top shelf & run it through the hottest cycle with a sani rinse since I have that option.
      • Then, I sprinkle baking soda on the bottom & I run it through a short, hot cycle.
      • Last, check the area where you'd put the rinse aid & I fill that up with vinegar.
    6. Wash outside windows (I only have two, so this is easy for me, if you have your own house you may want to schedule this at a different time).
    7. Complete budget, go to bank, schedule bills, write any necessary checks.
These are all the things I sit down and do right around the first of the month. I usually take a few days to get them all done. But, they are all typically done by the first.

Happy June, Everyone! I hope you all are ready to start your summer vacations here soon, if you get one! I am working on a fabulous summer bucket list printable. ;)

Purse Organization

So, today I want to share with you a little tutorial that will save you tons of time! I was going to post something else today but was inspired by A Bowl Full of Lemons Weekly Organizing challenge to organize thenshow off your purse! Well, over the last year my purse has been pretty darn clean usually. I attribute this to a couple of things.

  1. My beautiful daughter isn’t really a “kid” anymore & carries her own purse so I don’t have all of her junk in there.
  2. I have all of my items organized in to little areas in my bag!

Seriously, it is amazing how nice everything will stay once you get everything in where it needs to go and give it a “home”. This also makes changing bags super easy! Which, if you’re anything like me it’s close to the top of your do to list  once you get dressed for the day! Check out my lime green right now. So…here it is…my bag!

This is everything all laid out. Yes, I took these while in my car...that is a rare occasion!

So, we are city dwellers. We live right smack in the middle of downtown. I love it, but it means that when we go places I need to be prepared because I can’t just “stop home” or grab something out of the car because we walk everywhere or take transit. So, preparation is a must, this is how I ensure we have everything we need!

These are a gem!!! I love to wear heels; it is a rare occasion that I am not wearing heels so I always carry a pair of foldable flats in my bag. These ones are from “Fit in Clouds” they are amazing. They've lasted me a year now & I've literally walked miles in them! I've even loaned them to a friend in need. So, I definitely recommend investing in them, they are well worth the money!

Next is my little emergency kit.

I have always tried to have one of these since I was a teenager. I put this one in a bag that was a free sample from target once! In it I keep the following:
  • Shout wipe for stains
  • Advil (in it is also 2 DayQuil pills)
  • Carmex for the winter
  • Hawaiian Tropic lip balm for the summer
  • Dior sparkle lip gloss because some days just need sparkle ;)
  • Bandaids
  • The lipstick I wore the last time we go out (yes, it’s Barbie pink…it’s fab, don’t hate)
  • A small notepad my mom got me. She probably thinks I got rid of it ages ago when really it goes everywhere with me!
  • More pens than I realized I had!
  • Way more nail files than I realized I had!
  • A Ziploc bag. Yes, this is “odd” but, my teenager gets terrible motion sickness & since we take transit a lot I keep it in there just in case & that way we have a way to zip it up until the next stop.
  • A pad & a pantyliner as you can never be without that as a woman my age & you never know when a friend may need one.
  • Dior cosmetic mirror.
  • Bobby pins & safety pins.
  • I am out of mints so I need to get some of those.
  • I am also out of double stick tape so I need to get a small roll of that. I keep it in my kit just in case of a wardrobe malfunction I can tape it back together ;) Sounds silly but it’s come in handy…obviously, since I am out!

The last thing I have is a mini-first aid kit. This is what I have in there:
  • 2 antiseptic wipes
  • Aloe
  • Large bandaids & gauze
  • I need to add in there some hand sanitizer

I also keep in the back pocket an antique mirror with a crochet case that was my grandmothers. It still has the little makeup applicator pad that smells delicious. It makes me smile every time I see it.
That covers my bag! I want to see yours now!! Feel free to send them to adjustingandreadjusting@gmail.com, I’d love to share some with my readers!!!

Now, in the comments tell me what your must have item is that you’d know instantly was gone from your bag? Mine would be my foldable flats. My feet would explode some nights without those! ;)
